Special TAKS Day Requests

Day 22 / Post 15

Repost for Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Today is the day that every child in 3rd Grade and up takes the state mandated TAKS test. The schools encourage the kids to “Eat a Good Breakfast” so our kitchen turned into a short order breakfast grill this AM. Here you see everyone’s “Special TAKS Day Requests.”

The Kitchen Gets Crowned

Day 21 / Post 14

Posted for Monday, February 19, 2007

Those of you who know us are aware of our kitchen remodeling project. I would guess that I started it about 2+ years ago. Well, we took one big step forward to completion today when the upper cabinet crown molding was finally finished. Christi is so excited; the kitchen is almost at the stage where she doesn’t have to explain it to our first time guests. I am excited; I cannot wait to cross that item off my ‘Honey Do’ list.

Cody Flips Over His Bobcat Badge

Day 20 / Post 13

In our Cub Scout pack, as probably in most others, we have a tradition when it comes to kids earning their 1st Scout Rank, the Bobcat. The Child is turned upside down in front of his entire pack and his patch is pinned on upside down. The kids love that part. In order for the patch to be put right side up and sewn on his uniform he must do one good deed. The catch is that the scout should do this deed without ANY prompting from his parents. It is completely up to him to do and complete. I will let you know when Code completes his task…

Blue and Gold!

Day 19 / Post 12

Today was the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquette. Here we see Clay & Cody showing off their cakes they baked for the cake auction. Cody was awarded his Bobcat Rank and his Ice Skating Belt Loop. Clay was awarded his Bear Rank and Whittling Chip. Cody’s cake is the orange cake with black stripes. It was titled the “Muddy Tiger” due to the chocolate sprinkles and it sold for $40. Clay’s cake is the blue iced with yellow sprinkles and American Flag. It was titled “Blue & Gold” and sold for $35. It was a good day for the pack!

Clay Rocks!

Day 17 / Post 11

Here is Clay with his guitar. He has been taken lessons this school year and really enjoying it. Clay likes to practice with the guitar amp turned way up. Mom and Me are very thankful that the amp has a head phone jack… On the positive side, Cody hopes to start drum lessons next year. I have decided to buy stock in Advil, to get a head start…

Mom's New Friend

Day 15 /
Post 10

OK, this is not exactly a pay back post for Christi but I thought that it was time to give her a post on the blog. Mom was a hard sell for Clay to get a puppy but I think she has become quite found of Mr. Duke. She has even taken it as her job to make sure he gets his warm milk every night before he goes to bed. Yes this is one spoiled pooch…

My New TV Buddy

Day 14 /
Post 09

Well Christi and I have managed the past 11+ years of our marriage with out any animals. Clay worked on Mom for about 2 years to get the chance to have a dog. Now that Duke has taken over the house everyone’s life has changed. Every night I send the boys to bed and watch TV until the 10:00 news. Now I have a new TV buddy although he is not as interested in the news as I am...

Christi took this picture while I wasn’t paying attention; I hope this post reminds me to get her back for that honor…

GG, Can I Sleep in Here?

Day 13 / Post 08

Clay & Cody went over to GG to spend Saturday night. Those of us that know and love GG know of her ability to “store” things in every nook and cranny. Well we all think that she went just a little too far when we saw Cody’s new “Spot”

All fun aside, is it not strange to see where boys find to hide when they are involved in a serious game of hide and go seek.

Cody loved the “best spot” until his brother closed the lid on him. Then the fun went away. So much for brotherly love...

Jr. ROTC Military Ball

Day 12 / Post 07

Mike had to get all dressed up and go to his ROTC Military Ball tonight. Doesn’t he look pretty!!! It is a formal requirement for this semester and they are required to show up in full uniform. Mike decided to wear his Drill Team dress. He has really enjoyed Drill Team this year. They are now getting ready for National competition in Washington DC the end of March.

Get Back On Track - You Slacker...

Day 11 / Post 06

Finally! It is Friday, what a week! Meredith came in my office this am and chastised me about not updating all week. I tried to explain how crazy the week was but he did not care. He said that I had to post today, and my post had to be a picture of him taking a picture for his post. Why not? I do need to get back on track... So here it is... You can check out what he took a picture of on his blog. What a week, lets hope the weekend is better...

Enjoy...

He is on the varsity armed drill team and the competition color guard. This weekend they are traveling to Huntsville Alabama to compete in a national competition. Wish him luck…

Judge Cody Holds Court

For our day 3 post we travel to the City of Oak Ridge on a Cub Scout “Go See It.” The Scouts got to see the Police Department and City Hall. During our tour of City Council chambers Tiger Cub Cody stopped to sit in the Judge’s chair. All rise! The court is now in session, Judge Cody presiding.
